Rock it!

Yesterday I totally blew myself away!  I dropped all of my responsibilities and left them at the door.  It was actually quite freeing!  We headed to Stone Mountain with the tornados.  I have to admit I do not think I have been there in 20 years, showing my age stinks!  On a random Tuesday it was not crowded and we were able to go at our desired pace, full speed!  We began on Sky hike, this is where my years of gymnastics really paid off!  Walking on 4” beams was a breeze, although I do not remember competing on one 36’ in the air!  And although we were sporting harnesses, I still couldn’t watch our youngest through the obstacles.  I most certainly was not nervous or afraid, who could have been with the random kid ahead of us screaming and crying that the world as he knew it was coming to an end and he wanted off this horrible ride.  Good times!
As the day progressed we rode the train, played mini golf, took the sky ride up the mountain and then joined friends on the lawn for the laser show.  I know I mentioned it had been at least 20 years since my last visit, right?  So you would think that the show would have been “WOW”.  I seriously doubt it had any of the kids attention.  I am not sure if their lack of attention was due to having friends to play with or the sheer fact that our technology age is so much better than the archaic laser show that has not been brought into our current lifetime.  There were some 3D effects I should say.  I do realize that it is still called a “Laser Show” and as such it requires well, lasers!  I think maybe the content could be updated? Just sayin!  But all in all we had a blast at the Rock!

I am ONE...

I am but one person.  I am not worthy of the cover of Forbes magazine, I am not a fortune 500 company...I am simply ONE.  I started my business with the forethought that one day both the tornadoes would be in school and quite frankly I did not want to return to the traditional 9-5 career.  So ironically my hours well...do not exist.  Sometimes I work until 2am!  It is what it is, the nature of the beast.  Working from home has its benefits and its pitfalls.  I absolutely love having my own business and being blessed to work from home.   So I have toyed with the idea of opening a storefront.  Honestly I am way too cheap to pay for retail space!  So for now I continue to work day in and day out in my shop at home.  It works!  I do need to set business hours and stick to them, which is extremely hard as my mind does not shut off if I know that there is work to be done.

Needless to say I am trying to finish all of my orders so that I can enjoy our vacation and not worry about pending orders.  I actually stuck to my word and set a deadline for orders and a returning date for new orders.  Big Step!

11 Days beach bound and counting!!!

Mission Accomplished...Almost.

As I have been told in the past my task lists are "daunting".  I like to make a list of tasks that need to be done.  I should prioritize them and choose just one item a day, right?  That just would not be me!  So while the tornadoes were away I was able to do a few tasks on the list, but there are so many more to be done.  It never ends!
I was able to remove the carpet and what seemed to be 4 million nails/staples from the stairs, stain the treads and paint the risers (note: this is not recommended)  The finished product will be wonderful, the deed in itself was "daunting".  Two walls of the playroom have been painted, that may not seem like a big deal but when the room is 25"x25" with 11" ceilings and a person of 5" stature is painting?  We had so much rain that the front porch will have to wait for less inclement times!

On another note, I was able to finally ditch my cell phone provider!  Not that I have been dissatisfied by their service but frankly could not stand how much the bill was anymore.  We have all seen the commercials for cheaper providers. Time will tell if there are any troubles with the new provider.

Now...off to a large box of apparel calling.  It is all work, right!

Beach bound countdown...13 days!~

Are we there yet???

As my week without the tornados comes to an end...I am ready to see them but even more ready to see the beach!!!  15 days and counting!  I cannot wait to hear the waves crash and feel the sand between my toes!  I typically can only handle about 3 days at the beach and I am ready to come home.  Somehow this time I feel it will be different...claw marks through the sand will be left as I am drug off the beach and thrown into the car to return to home and work.  This is a much needed vacation indeed!

Silence is Bliss?

Is silence bliss or maddening?  As day 2 without the tornados comes to an end I must say I am not sure if silence is bliss but will admit it to be quite productive.  I have been able to work uninterrupted since they have been at Camp Grandmama.  I have also been able to be spontaneous with the hubby.  Last night we tried a new place and shot pool (which we have not done in YEARS), and tonight at the last minute I suggested with go see the Braves.  It is a nice break and I do miss them.  I received a nice phone call from them both telling me about the adventures that they are having.  It is amazing that the house once cleaned has been staying clean!  Now if I can only get all of my work done so that I feel as though I can paint the porch and playroom as well as take up the carpet off the stairs and maybe work on my toy Wrangler.  A girl can dream can’t she?

Pit Stop!

Last week was crazy with VBS every night and trying to fill orders.  The little tornados are at Camp Grandmama for the week.  Hubby and I took them there yesterday afternoon, stayed and ate dinner with the family.  While on our way home after drinking what seemed to be 4 gallons of water and needing to get gas to make our way home, we stopped.  WELL...not to come across as a prissy pre-madonna, BUT.  Where Camp Grandmama is located in South GA you have 2 choices of gas stations...we chose poorly!  While hubby filled the tank I ran in to find what could be the most atrocious bathroom known to man.  It made the port a potty at the ball fields look appealing!  So with the grace of God behind me I just thanked him for giving me boys and not girls...it is bad enough that I killed a tree all by myself just to cover and hover!  Good times!

I envy June

As I always try to put 72 hours into 24, somehow a square peg never fits a round hole!  Recently I have been staying up until 2am working.  Work all day and then we have our VBS at night, then I return home after 9pm only to work some more.  I am trying my best to have all of my orders filled by the end of this week so that next week when the boys are at Camp Grandmama I can "maybe" do so much needed work around the house.  Let us not hold our breath yet!

I know TV is not reality, but I seriously envy the days of the 50's mom.  So prim, so proper and always well put together with a clean house, dinner on the table and a strand of pearls adorn her neck.  But alas the June Cleavers of the world did not run a business, did not have multiple children playing sports and most definitely did not have the ridiculous amount of stuff in their homes to clutter it all.

I feel another "purge and merge" session coming soon!  If it is not nailed down it might disappear, just saying!
